Israel’s foreign ministry said on Monday that a post by Tusk on X backed Israel against “Islamic terrorism” yet wrongly invoked politicians “whose actions lead to hunger and the deaths of mothers and children.”

Tusk had written that Poland “was, is and will be on Israel’s side” in its fight with Hamas, “but never on the side of politicians” blamed for civilian suffering.

Responding, the ministry said Tusk “should remember the lesson of “Never Again.” Never Again, Prime Minister Tusk, applies to our era’s new Nazis and their collaborators, Hamas.” It added that Israel operates within international law and that Poland, if threatened, doesn’t “take risks either.”

Israel’s recent campaign in Gaza began on October 7, when Hamas militants killed about 1,200 people in southern Israel and took 251 hostages.

Gaza’s Hamas-run authorities say Israeli retaliation has left nearly 61,000 Palestinians dead and another 180 people, including 93 children, killed by hunger or malnutrition.
