Polish President Karol Nawrocki is starting a two-day visit to Estonia on Thursday, with plans to discuss global security and peace in the Middle East at a summit of the so-called Arraiolos Group of countries, according to his office.

Nawrocki's top foreign policy aide, Marcin Przydacz, told reporters the gathering would focus on international security challenges and developments in the Middle East, alongside issues such as artificial intelligence and emerging technologies.

Poland supports a two-state solution to the Middle East conflict, Przydacz noted, adding that “Israel has the right to self-defence, and the Palestinian people and Palestine have the right to exist and function."

The Arraiolos Group brings together heads of state from EU member countries with parliamentary rather than presidential systems of government. The format was launched in 2003 in the Portuguese town of Arraiolos.

While in Tallinn, Nawrocki will also hold bilateral talks with Estonian President Alar Karis and meet with government and parliamentary leaders to discuss security cooperation, Przydacz said.

“Both Poland and Estonia have been subjected to various hybrid provocative actions by Russia,” he told reporters, citing violations of Estonian airspace by Russian MiG-31 fighter jets and last month’s breach of Polish airspace by Russian drones.

Przydacz added that Nawrocki would visit Latvia later this year to continue security talks with the Baltic states.
