Wages climb in Polish companies

Wages in Polish companies employing over nine people rose 7.1 percent in January compared with the same month a year earlier, the country’s Central Statistical Office has said.

The average gross salary last month in such firms was PLN 5,283 (USD 1,335, EUR 1,237).

A total of 6,440,900 people worked for companies of this size.

Employment in Polish firms increased 1.1 percent last month on average in year-on-year terms, according to the statistical office.

Despite a global slowdown, the Polish economy is likely to grow around 3.3 percent this year and next, Poland’s prime minister said earlier this week.
