Polish wages up y/y in Q1 2023: stats office

The average monthly wage in Poland in the first quarter of this year rose by 14.3 percent compared with the same quarter of 2022, the country’s statistics office has reported.

The average gross monthly wage in the first quarter of 2023 was PLN 7,124.26 (EUR 1,570, USD 1,715), the Statistics Poland (GUS) agency said.

The figure was 5.8 percent up on the final quarter of last year, according to the office.

The state-run statistics agency reported last month that average wages in Poland's corporate sector rose 12.6 percent in March compared with the same month a year earlier.

Meanwhile, inflation in Poland stood at 14.7 percent in year-on-year terms in April, according to a flash estimate released by Statistics Poland at the end of last month.
