The latest jobless figure, released by the state-run Statistics Poland (GUS) agency on Tuesday, was in line with an earlier estimate by the labour ministry.

There were around 856,300 people without jobs across the nation at the end of August, up from 830,600 a month earlier, according to Statistics Poland.

The statistics office reported last week that employment in Polish companies dropped by 0.8 percent in August on average in year-on-year terms.

According to the European Union's Eurostat statistics agency, which uses a different methodology, unemployment in Poland stood at 3.1 percent in July, marking one of the lowest rates in the 27-nation bloc.
