Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has welcomed the conclusions of a recent article in Switzerland’s „Neue Zürcher Zeitung” (NZZ), which argued that Germany could take inspiration from Poland’s economic momentum.

The piece, published at the beginning of November 2025, suggested that “Germany’s economy is discovering a new model to follow - in Poland.”

Quoting the article, Tusk highlighted its striking message: “We need more Warsaw in Berlin.”

Speaking in a video posted on X (formerly Twitter), the Polish leader said the comment reflects a growing recognition abroad of Poland’s transformation.

“People often say we’re not good at self-promotion. That’s true - but that’s what the Swiss are for,” Tusk said with a smile. “Their biggest newspaper wrote that Germany needs more Warsaw in Berlin.”

In his post, Tusk pointed to the qualities the NZZ article credited for Poland’s success: economic growth, deregulation, digitalisation, and bold decision-making.

“Those are the things Germany now looks to Poland for,” he added. “See? It’s possible. We’re catching up with Germany.”

The NZZ article described Poland as one of Europe’s few economic bright spots - a country combining pragmatic policymaking with a willingness to reform and innovate. It argued that Poland’s momentum “scratches at Germany’s self-image” as the continent’s traditional industrial powerhouse, suggesting that Germany could learn from Warsaw’s agility and confidence.

Since returning to power in 2023 at the head of a pro-European coalition, Tusk has sought to present Poland as a modern and confident EU member state - one that contributes actively to Europe’s economic and political direction.
