Employment down, wages up in Polish firms y/y in November: stats office

Employment in Polish companies dropped by 0.8 percent in November on average in year-on-year terms, the country’s statistics office has reported.

Meanwhile, average wages in Poland's corporate sector increased by 7.1 percent last month compared with the same month a year earlier, the state-run Statistics Poland (GUS) agency said.

The average gross Polish monthly wage last month was PLN 9,078.16 (EUR 2,160, USD 2,530), according to the statistical office.

The figures are for companies with more than nine employees.

The Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policestimated this month that Poland's unemployment rate inched up to 5.7 percent in November, from 5.6 percent in October.

The average wage in Poland rose 7.5 percent in the third quarter of this year compared with the same quarter of 2024, according to data released by Statistics Poland last month.

The country's minimum monthly wage currently stands at PLN 4,666 (EUR 1,095, USD 1,290) and is set to rise by 3 percent to PLN 4,806 in January.
