The episode took place on Friday, 9 January, when a 35-year-old man from the eastern Lublin region poured liquid manure outside the minister’s property, partly spilling it onto the premises, while shouting criminal threats against the household’s residents and members of the government.

Speaking at a press conference, Krajewski warned that such actions could lead to serious consequences.

“This kind of aggression can end in tragedy,” he said.

The minister drew a distinction between protests in public spaces and what he called an unacceptable attack on private life.

The politician noted that the incident occurred at his private residence in the north-eastern town of Zambrów on the same day the EU-Mercosur trade deal was preliminarily signed, which had already sparked demonstrations in Warsaw and a protest outside his local office.

Krajewski acknowledged that while expressing dissent in public spaces is legitimate, targeting his private home, family, and neighbours crossed a line and was entirely unacceptable.

He also noted that the perpetrator filmed and livestreamed the incident, further violating the privacy of those living on the property.

The minister said the attacker, who is not professionally connected to agriculture, appeared to frame his actions as a protest over farming issues, but may have been influenced or instigated by others, as suggested by the threats he shouted.

Krajewski emphasised the need for a strong response to prevent similar incidents and said the attacker’s parting comments suggested further actions could be planned.

Prosecutors have charged the suspect, identified as Marcin Z., and have requested that a court impose a three-month pre-trial detention.
