Bulgaria and the Czech Republic tied for the lowest jobless rate in the bloc in May, each with 2.9 percent, while Poland and Cyprus came next, each with 3.1 percent, according to the Eurostat agency.
Meanwhile, Finland had the highest seasonally-adjusted jobless rate in the EU, at 10.6 percent, and Spanish unemployment was the second-highest at 10.3 percent, according to the latest available data.
Eurostat reported on Thursday that the EU average for May was 5.9 percent, unchanged from April and down from 6 percent in May 2025
Poland's statistics office GUS, which uses a different methodology, reported last month that the Polish jobless rate fell to 5.9 percent in May, from 6 percent in April.
