The Italian-made Pendolino trains were introduced in 2014 as part of efforts to upgrade Poland’s rolling stock. Each train has 402 seats, and is able to reach a maximum speed of 250 km/h.

Adam Laskowski, a member of PKP Intercity’s board, also said that the trains have collectively travelled more than 30 million kilometres during that time.

Laskowski said: “Thirty million kilometres is an impressive amount and confirms that Pendolino trains are a vital asset in PKP Intercity’s fleet. They are becoming ever more popular among passengers, who value their comfort and speed.”

PKP Intercity plans to install Wi-Fi on all Pendolino trains by November.
