She was honoured for  her original score for "Sentimental Value," a family drama by Norwegian director Joachim Trier.

The film, which follows two sisters grieving the loss of their mother as their long-absent father unexpectedly returns, triumphed with as many as six awards, including for Best Film.

The European Film Awards are regarded as Europe’s equivalent to the Oscars.

Rani, 35, is a graduate of the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw and has built a successful career as a pianist, composer and singer, blending jazz, classical and electronic influences.

Her previous international work includes the score for The Summer Book, directed by Charlie McDowell and adapted from Tove Jansson's novel of the same title.
