After talks with Polish President Andrzej Duda at the White House, US leader Donald Trump told a press conference: “We are working to conclude an agreement that would facilitate Poland’s development of nuclear energy plants … they are going to be purchasing with one of our very big, very good companies technology to do civilian nuclear energy.”

And in a joint statement, Duda and Trump added their two countries were pleased to “partner on supplying Poland with U.S. Liquefied Natural Gas and to begin a new chapter of our energy cooperation by partnering to develop Poland’s civil nuclear power sector.”

They also reaffirmed their joint declaration of September 2, 2019 to cooperate in the development of “next-generation technology solutions and to use only secure and trusted providers, equipment, and supply chains in our 5G networks.”

“To advance this aim,” Poland and the United States “will collaborate on promoting innovation for a diverse supply chain of trusted 5G vendors,” according to the statement.

Trump told reporters: "Our nations have also collaborated on protecting our critical infrastructure and technology. That’s why we’ve signed a 5G joint declaration. And Poland is leading the way in Europe by using trusted providers, and provider equipment, and supply chains for its 5G network. And we’re working along with them, and they using our companies."

Poland and the United States in June last year signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in civilian nuclear energy.

The two countries in September signed an agreement to work together in ensuring security for new 5G telecoms technology.
