“Out of a dozen or so global powerhouses in the industry, only three have increased their production in this difficult time of the pandemic,” KGHM CEO Marcin Chludziński said on Thursday.

“And I consider it a success that we are one of those three companies,” he added.

In the first half of 2020, KGHM Polska Miedź sold 277,000 tonnes of copper worldwide, executives announced at a video conference.

The group reported a before-tax profit of PLN 1.18 billion (around EUR 270 million, USD 320 million) in the first six months of this year, up from PLN 970 million in the same period last year.

Meanwhile, the company’s net profit in the first half of 2020 totaled PLN 699 million, a slide from PLN 1.45 billion in the first six months of 2019, executives said.
