Entrepreneurs, EU officials and government ministers will debate key issues at the event, which is this year held both in the Katowice congress center and online.
The three-day event started on Wednesday and is accompanied by the European Start-up Days.
This year, the congress will comprise 70 thematic sessions and debates. The organizers of the congress said only 1,500 people can take part in the event due to coronavirus restrictions.
They will debate a range of issues related to the recovery of the European economy after the crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic, as well as challenges stemming from the European Green Deal.
European Commission Vice President Frans Timmermans, the man behind the deal, which aims to make the EU the first climate-neutral continent by 2050 through eliminating greenhouse gas emissions, is set to take part in the discussions on Thursday.
Other issues on the table include finance, innovation, technology, energy, local government and regional policy, health, transport, real estate and global economic cooperation.
Among other guests invited this year are Polish Finance Minister Tadeusz Kościński, VP of European Investment Bank and former Finance Minister Teresa Czerwińska, and MEP and former PM Jerzy Buzek.
The European Tech and Start-up Days, part of the European Economic Forum, are set to start on Thursday.
In 2019, the 11th European Economic Congress (EEC), also held in Katowice, was attended by over 15,500 guests.
