Google to invest USD 700 million in Warsaw

Google announced on Monday it is to invest USD 700 million in office space in Poland’s capital Warsaw.

The company aims to purchase and further develop the Warsaw HUB, “a modern office complex right in the heart of Poland’s capital city,” where it opened its office last year.

Google said in a statement that it is to employ around 2500 people in Warsaw, “with potential for future growth.”

At a press conference at the Warsaw HUB, Polish Prime MInister told the media that the investment is a “sign of belief in the Polish market and the Polish-US partnership.”

US ambassador to Poland Mark Brzezinski wrote in a twitter post he was happy to see US companies appreciating Poland, and “using its unique potential.”

“Today, Google is a symbol of great US - Polish economic relations,” Brzezinski added.

Tony Housh, the Chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce in Poland said that the countries are jointly developing innovation and creative business environment.

Google also announced that it will be “using Google’s spaces and resources” to support those affected by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, “including by using the Google for Startups Campus in Warsaw as a space where local NGOs can provide legal and psychological support to refugees.”
