Those who plan their holidays in the country are most likely to choose the Baltic Sea coast, while those going abroad are more likely to holiday in Croatia.
Meanwhile, between 14 per cent and 28 per cent of Poles have no travel plans.
As in previous years, around 60 percent of Poles plan holidays in the country, according to data provided by the Polish Tourism Organisation.
For years, the most popular holiday destination in Poland has been the Baltic Sea (27-37 percent), with slightly fewer holidaymakers choosing the mountains (15-22 percent) and Masuria (8-19 per cent). Those going on foreign holidays most often plan to holiday in Croatia (18 percent), Greece (14 percent), Spain (12 percent), Italy (11 percent) and Turkey (9 percent).
"Domestic trips are most often planned for July and August, while foreign trips are planned for September". - the analysts pointed out.
According to Poland’s Central Statistical Office, the number of domestic tourists using accommodation in Poland increased by 12 per cent in the first four months of 2023 compared to the same period last year.
The main barrier stopping Poles from going on holiday is the lack of sufficient financial resources. According to various surveys, this is the reason given by between 41 and 50 percent of Poles who do not go on holiday.
65 per cent of those intending to spend their holidays in Poland and 64 per cent of those holidaying abroad will go away for a week at most, the PIE statement added.
"Poles' declarations regarding this year's holiday trips are returning to the level established before the pandemic. The number of people going on holiday is increasing. Poles are also more willing to travel abroad". - PIE analysts noted.
