Rosneft owns a 54.17% stake in PCK Schwedt, which is Germany's fourth-largest oil refinery, the Reuters news agency reported.
In the wake of Russia's February 2022 invasion of Ukraine, the German government put Rosneft's shares under trusteeship, stripping the Russian company of its ability to exert control, news outlets reported.
Poland's previous conservative government was pushing Berlin to force Rosneft out, to make way for Polish refiner Orlen, which expressed an interest in buying a stake in PCK Schwedt, according to news reports at the time.
In September, Germany prolonged the trusteeship of Rosneft's stake in the PCK Schwedt refinery, after lack of progress in talks over how the Russian firm's exit could be carried out, the Reuters news agency reported.
Meanwhile, the international energy company Shell on Friday sold its 37.5% stake in PCK Schwedt to Britain's Prax Group, according to news outlets.
Earlier, Polish LPG firm Unimot had held talks with Shell about buying its shares in the German refinery, the biznesalert.pl website reported.
Following the Kremlin's invasion of Ukraine, Poland and Germany are no longer buying Russian oil.
Poland's new government has warned that the PCK Schwedt refinery is still using the Russian Northern Druzhba pipeline to import oil from Kazakhstan, and that the oil in fact originates from Russia, biznesalert.pl reported.
Saturday is day 661 of Russia's war on Ukraine.
