"I am confident that on Saturday at a meeting with farmers I will have something serious to communicate regarding the Green Deal," Tusk said on Thursday, adding that his announcement would address "fallowing regulations, among other things."
Tusk told reporters that his government remained committed to the European bloc's Green Deal effort to cut emissions, expressing a determination to fulfill its objectives.
"I am very keen to deliver to the end what is possible with the Green Deal," Tusk declared.
He highlighted "efforts to align EU decisions with the needs of Polish farmers," aiming to alleviate the pressure exerted by the Green Deal's stringent regulations, Polish state news agency PAP reported.
"The government is trying to ensure such decisions in the EU that will also allow Polish farmers to breathe a sigh of relief when it comes to those regulations and new rules that are most severe from their point of view," Tusk stated.
He appealed to EU Agriculture Commissioner Janusz Wojciechowski, who is linked to Poland's conservative Law and Justice (PiS) party, "not to spoil anything at any stage, including now, when we may be finalizing these measures" amid a delicate balance of ongoing discussions with Brussels, the PAP news agency reported.
On Thursday, Tusk was set to participate in a congress of the European People's Party (EPL) in the Romanian capital Bucharest.
On the sidelines of the convention, he was expected to meet with key Romanian officials, including Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu and President Klaus Iohannis.
