Ireland saw the largest year-on-year increase in seasonally-adjusted industrial production in the EU in April, at 18.4 percent, followed by Finland with 10.2 percent, and Croatia with 6.5 percent, according to the Eurostat agency.

Among member states for which data were available, Denmark recorded the steepest annual decrease in industrial production in April, at 11.6 percent, while Bulgaria saw a 10.5-percent drop, the agency's data showed.

The agency said earlier this month that seasonally-adjusted industrial production in the EU as a whole increased by 0.6 percent in April in year-on-year terms.

Poland’s statistics office, which uses a different methodology, reported last month that Polish industrial production rose 1.2 percent in April compared with the same month a year earlier.

Meanwhile, the country's seasonally-adjusted industrial production went down by 0.2 percent in year-on-year terms in April, while increasing 1 percent month on month, the state-run Statistics Poland (GUS) agency said.
