Malta recorded the lowest jobless rate in the EU in May, at 2.7 percent, followed by the Czech Republic, with 2.8 percent, and Poland in third place, according to the Eurostat agency.
Meanwhile, Spain had the highest seasonally-adjusted jobless rate in the EU, at 10.8 percent, and Finnish unemployment was the second-highest at 9 percent, according to the latest available data.
Eurostat reported on Thursday that the EU average for May was 5.9 percent, stable compared with April and down from 6 percent in May 2024.
Poland's statistics office GUS, which uses a different methodology, reported last month that the Polish jobless rate fell to 5 percent in May, from 5.2 percent in April.
