LSA reported that the retailer has struggled to generate sufficient profits in Poland to compete with discount chains. Citing unnamed experts, the portal said an asset sale could help trim costs.
The business daily Les Echos recalled that Carrefour chief Alexandr Bompard has spoken of a group-wide strategic review, and suggested a sale could also extend to assets in Belgium.
Carrefour has operated in Poland since 1997, LSA noted. The group runs about 800 stores in various formats and manages roughly 40 shopping centers in the country.
