Polish inflation at 2.5% in November: stats office

Inflation in Poland stood at 2.5 percent in year-on-year terms in November, the country’s statistics office said on Monday.

The figure was 0.1 percentage point higher than a flash estimate released by the state-run Statistics Poland (GUS) agency at the end of last month.

In Octoberthe prices of consumer goods and services in Poland were 2.8 percent higher than in the same month a year earlier, according to the state-run Statistics Poland (GUS) agency.

In SeptemberPoland's consumer price index stood at 2.9 percent, Statistics Poland reported.

Central bank chief Adam Glapiński said earlier this month that inflation is expected to stay within the National Bank of Poland's target range over the next few years.

He told reporters on December 4 that forecasts from both the Polish central bank and external institutions pointed to inflation hovering around the 2.5-percent target, with a tolerance band of 1 percentage point.

Next year, Polish inflation is expected to average 3.1 percent, under the country's budget adopted by the government in August.

The Polish central bank predicted in its latest Inflation Report, released on November 7, that inflation would average 3.7 percent in 2025, followed by 2.9 percent in 2026 and 2.5 percent in 2027.
