S&P DJI’s decision to reclassify Poland from an emerging market to a developed market confirms the country’s growing position, Polish Minister of Finance and Economy Andrzej Domański said on Friday.

S&P Dow Jones Indices (S&P DJI), a global provider of stock market indices and market indicators, announced that Poland will move from the emerging‑market group to the developed‑market group. The change will take effect with the index update scheduled for September 2027.

“Further confirmation of Poland’s growing position! S&P DJI has just changed Poland’s classification from an emerging market to a developed market. Poland is now the fastest‑growing large economy in the EU,” Domański wrote on the X platform. He added that “in just one week we will be participating in the G20 meeting in the US. We are moving forward”, he wrote on X.

In June, S&P DJI reported that it had launched consultations on Poland’s possible reclassification. According to the company, Poland’s quantitative and qualitative indicators meet or exceed standards required for developed‑market status.
