The Polish Teachers’ Union (ZNP), which is campaigning for higher pay, launched the protest on Wednesday.
The gazetaprawna.pl website reported that the head of the union, Sławomir Broniarz, has announced his organization is ready to offer teachers legal assistance if they get into trouble over the protest.
The website added that some teachers were hazy about what a work-to-rule protest entailed and that the union put together a special brochure for them, specifying which tasks they are obliged to perform and which they can avoid.
Broniarz last month said the protest would see staff refusing to carry out extra duties such as running extracurricular activities and overseeing school trips.
