Newly released statistics, based on research conducted last year, indicate that almost 37 percent attended Sunday Mass, and 16.7 percent of Catholics in Poland received Holy Communion.

Compared to 2018, church attendance dropped just over one percent, while the number of those receiving Holy Communion was down by 0.6 percent, according to Father Wojciech Sadłoń, director of the Catholic Church’s Institute of Statistics.

Meanwhile, Father Marcin Lisak from the institute said: “The model of Poles’ religiosity is changing - from inherited religiosity to religiousness by choice.”
