Public health authorities said that 15,692 adverse reactions had been reported among those who received the vaccines by Thursday morning.

Meanwhile, a total of 503,673 doses have been wasted in the rollout, according to the Polish health ministry.

As of ThursdayPoland had injected almost 19.9 million first doses of COVID-19 vaccines, while nearly 19.6 million people had been fully inoculated, health ministry data showed.

The tally includes two-dose vaccines from Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna and AstraZeneca as well as Johnson & Johnson's one-shot vaccine.

Poland on Thursday reported 2,007 new coronavirus infections and 29 more deaths related to COVID-19, bringing the country's total number of cases during the pandemic to 2,916,969 and fatalities to 75,803.

The government last month recommended a booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine for healthcare workers and people over 50. Deputy Health Minister Waldemar Kraska told reporters that the booster shot would be administered at least six months after the second shot.

In late August, people with compromised immune systems were advised to receive a third dose of the vaccine.
