Public health authorities said that 15,956 adverse reactions had been reported among those who received the vaccines by Wednesday morning.

Meanwhile, a total of 503,673 doses have been wasted in the rollout, according to the Polish health ministry.

As of WednesdayPoland had injected over 20.26 million first doses of COVID-19 vaccines, while more than 19.98 million people had been fully inoculated, health ministry data showed.

The tally includes two-dose vaccines from Pfizer-BioNTech, Moderna and AstraZeneca as well as Johnson & Johnson's one-shot vaccine.

Poland on Wednesday reported 10,429 new coronavirus infections and 124 more deaths related to COVID-19, bringing the country's total number of cases during the pandemic to 3,045,102 and fatalities to 77,145.

Third doses of the COVID-19 vaccine were this week made available to all adults in the country.

The booster shot will be administered at least six months after full vaccination, using Pfizer-BioNTech and Moderna mRNA vaccines, under rules announced by public health authorities.

Poland's government last month recommended a booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine for healthcare workers and people over 50.

In late August, people with compromised immune systems were advised to receive a third dose of the vaccine.

By Wednesday, a total of 835,600 booster shots had been administered, while 240,447 people with immunity problems had received a third vaccine dose, government data showed.
