Duda’s aide Adam Kwiatkowski arrived in the Georgian capital Tbilisi on Sunday to hand over the assistance, the news agency said.

“I have the honour of being here in Tbilisi in order to present our compatriots with aid on behalf of the Polish presidential couple,” Kwiatkowski told reporters.

“It’s over three tons of assistance, in the form of food, chemical products, backpacks and school aids, including multimedia boards,” he added.

He told the media that the shipment was an "expression of gratitude for the fact that here in the East, our diaspora cultivates its Polish roots.”

Presidential aid

Kwiatkowski handed over gifts and state decorations to Polish people gathered in Tbilisi on Sunday.

On Monday, he is scheduled to meet with compatriots in the eastern town of Lagodechi to extend Christmas wishes.

“These are touching moments when we can be together and when we can also be proud of Poland for organising such initiatives,” Kwiatkowski told the IAR news agency.

It is the third time this year that the president has provided assistance to Polish people living in post-Soviet countries east of Poland, after two aid packages were delivered to the Polish community in Moldova, officials said.

Meanwhile, earlier this month, Kwiatkowski visited Lebanon, where he donated food and hygiene products from the Polish head of state to families in distress and refugees from Syria, IAR reported.
