“The moj.gov.pl website and the mObywatel mobile application will notify citizens in advance about upcoming formalities,” the government’s commissioner for cyber security, Janusz Cieszyński, told public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency.

“For instance, when someone buys a second-hand car and registers it with the authorities,” the official explained, “we want them to receive an automatic reminder about having to pay tax.”

“Today, we take up such matters only when it becomes clear that the person has forgotten about them,” Cieszyński said. “We want to notify citizens proactively.”

The government will also seek to encourage schools to make greater use of the free-and-fast broadband and apps available under the Nationwide Education Network (OSE), the official told IAR.

“We’re planning new services around electronic sports, and an expansion of the Educational Anti-Smog Network (ESA), Cieszyński explained.

Also in 2022, he added, Poland will unveil a new plan of investments in the national fibre optic network, co-financed by the European Union. “Fast broadband is to reach every Polish household by 2030,” the official noted.

Moreover, in the first quarter of the new year, the government is to submit to parliament a bill to create a joint company with the biggest commercial telecoms operators. The new entity will be tasked “to build a country-wide 5G network and reduce costs,” Cieszyński told IAR.
