In the current situation of rising Omicron cases, the Ministry of Health has issued initial recommendations concerning a 4th vaccination dose.

Wojciech Andrusiewicz, the spokesperson for the Ministry, told PAP (the Polish Press Agency) that a fourth dose (i.e. second booster) was being recommended for the over 80s and for those over 12 who have conditions influencing their immune systems.

Mr Andrusiewicz said that this would remain the recommendation "as and until there is a marked rise in the number of cases" noted in Poland.

He also mentioned that the main companies involved in the production of vaccines - Pfizer and Moderna - are working on new versions of the vaccine, adapted to Omicron. It may be better, in the Ministry's opinion, for the majority of the population to wait for the new versions.
