In an interview with private broadcaster RMF FM,  Polish education minister Przemysław Czarnek said the number was slightly lower than the one at the end of the previous school year, since some of the children continued online courses in Ukrainian schools or have returned to their homeland.

Czarnek added that Polish local governments have so far received PLN 900 million (EUR 191 million) from Warsaw to help finance the education of young Ukrainians.

Around 800,000 children from Ukraine are currently residing in Poland.
