At a press conference today, the prime minister, Donald Tusk, informed the press that the government has decided to extend the policy of the previous government (Law and Justice) on regulated grace periods for those having difficulty paying mortgage loan instalments (popularly known in Polish as "loan vacations".)
Business Insider has calculated that more people than previously will be able to avail themselves of the possibility of suspending loan payments, but conditions remain, the main one being that the instalments represent more than 30% of the household income.
Opposition MP Waldemar Buda, however, has claimed that 70% of those currently using the system will fall out of it, suggesting that the Ministry of Finance is serving the interests of banks:
