Notably, Jerzy Dziewulski was one of the commanders of Operation Bridge in the early 1990s, a covert mission that helped relocate Jewish refugees from the former Soviet Union to Israel. As the only Polish police officer awarded the Medal for Sacrifice and Courage three times, his bravery and dedication were widely recognised.

Dziewulski’s expertise extended beyond policing; between 1996 and 1997, he served as security advisor to President Aleksander Kwaśniewski and was elected to the Polish parliament for four consecutive terms from 1991 to 2005. His career also included crisis responses to major air disasters in 1980 and 1987, and involvement in suppressing a student protest prior to the imposition of martial law in Poland in 1981.

A law graduate from the University of Warsaw, Dziewulski underwent training with Israeli special forces, reinforcing his reputation as a leading counter-terrorism figure. Over his career, he led responses to thirteen terrorist incidents, including aircraft hijackings, safely evacuating over 750 people without loss of life.

Beyond his operational duties, Dziewulski contributed to Polish popular culture as a consultant and actor on the 1980s crime drama series “07 zgłoś się.” Following his political career, he remained active as a security expert and media commentator.

Jerzy Dziewulski’s life reflected a rare blend of courage, leadership, and public service, leaving a lasting legacy in Poland’s security and political history.
