The disruption reportedly affected parts of the live transmission, though the broadcaster did not specify the source of the interference.
The broadcaster’s news channel, TVP Info, reported that “there was foreign interference with the satellite links through which the Lithuania–Poland match was being broadcast,” citing information from satellite operator Eutelsat. Officials said the incident was under investigation as efforts continued to identify those responsible for the attack.
The match was held in Kaunas, southern Lithuania, where around 5,000 Polish fans were in attendance. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk also watched the game from the stands.
Poland ultimately defeated Lithuania 2–0 in the Group G World Cup qualifier, strengthening their hold on second place behind the Netherlands.
