KidsAlert, a free application developed by the non-profit foundation Prospoleczna.org, helps parents monitor and interpret the content their children encounter online.
By analysing digital activity, the app alerts adults to harmful trends that could affect young people’s mental health and behaviour, promoting informed and responsible parenting in the digital age. The service is intended exclusively for adult users.
The latest alert, based on media monitoring and analysis of recent cases, highlights posts containing phrases such as “My date is today” or “My date is approaching,” which can be misinterpreted as references to birthdays but may indicate preoccupations with death, according to Polish Radio, on one of its program portals.
While the app emphasises that social media content is not a direct cause of suicide, it warns that algorithmically amplified posts can have a significant impact on vulnerable young users.
KidsAlert monitors these “digital diaries” daily, helping adults recognise early warning signs and intervene appropriately.
Parents and guardians are urged to seek immediate professional assistance if they suspect a child is at risk, and to make use of available helplines, including 116 111 for children and adolescents, 116 123 for adults, or 112 in emergencies.
