A 9-year-old from Gdańsk set a new world record by solving a standard Rubik’s Cube in 2.76 seconds, becoming the first person to break the three-second barrier.
Despite his young age, Zajder has already won multiple tournaments and set records across several categories, including larger cubes and challenges such as blindfolded and one-handed solving.

Teodor Zajder achieved the mark during the GLS Big Cubes 2026 competition held over the weekend in Gdańsk, winning the 3x3x3 single event and surpassing all rivals.

His time eclipsed the previous world record of 3.05 seconds set in 2025 by China’s Xuanyi Geng. It also made Zajder the first Pole to hold the world record in the discipline.

The record came on Zajder’s fourth attempt. His other times in the five-try format were significantly slower, ranging from just under five to nearly six seconds.

The 3x3x3 event is the most popular category in professional speedcubing, using the standard Rubik’s Cube of 26 smaller cubes mounted on a central rotating mechanism.

Despite his young age, Zajder has already won multiple tournaments and set records across several categories, including larger cubes and challenges such as blindfolded and one-handed solving.
