Employment down, wages up in Polish firms y/y in March: stats office

Employment in Polish companies dropped by 0.1 percent in March on average in year-on-year terms, the country’s statistics office has reported.

Meanwhile, average wages in Poland's corporate sector increased by 6.6 percent in March compared with the same month a year earlier, the state-run Statistics Poland (GUS) agency said on Tuesday.

The average gross Polish monthly wage last month was PLN 9,652.19 (EUR 2,280, USD 2,680), according to the statistical office.

The average monthly gross wage and salary in the enterprise sector in March 2026 was 6.6% higher than in March 2025.

The figures are for companies with more than nine employees.

The Ministry of Family, Labour and Social Policy estimated this month that Poland's unemployment rate stood at 6.1 percent in March, unchanged from February.

The average wage in Poland rose 5.5 percent last year compared with 2024, according to data released by Statistics Poland in February.
