The survey by SW Research for the Campaign Against Homophobia (KPH) found 56.9% of respondents backed such a guarantee, while 24.7% were opposed and just under 19% had no opinion.
Sixty-one percent said the right to care for a child should belong to those who raise it day to day, even if they are not related. Some 24% disagreed.
The poll was published as Poland’s Supreme Administrative Court was due to rule on whether a foreign birth certificate for a girl raised by two mothers can be transcribed into the Polish register.
“Polish society long ago understood that a family is made up of people who care for a child every day. Now it is time for institutions and politicians”, said KPH advocacy coordinator Mateusz Trzaska.
KPH estimates about 50,000 children are growing up in non-heteronormative families in Poland.
