As the new year gathers pace and resolutions are made, it looks as though many singles in Poland are ready to abandon their usual selection criteria and opt for longer and more fun-filled dates, the study found.
Seventy-two percent of those asked said they were open to meeting people outside their usual type, while 76 percent wanted the dates to last longer than before. In 2021, the average date lasted 2 hours and 36 minutes.
Sixty-one of the respondents prefer active dates, such as a walk or a bowling night, and 68 percent opt for a casual environment rather than a romantic setting. The dates are expected to be entertaining, lighthearted and fun, with 75 percent of those polled deciding to avoid discussing politics.
COVID-19 lockdowns have made people appreciate outdoor dates, walks and fun, according to Badoo’s Sophie Mann, who said that at the beginning of an acquaintance, it is easier to be yourself when you are having a good time and not feeling any pressure.
Fun dates
For Polish singles, the most prized quality in a dating partner is being funny (favoured by 63 percent of respondents). This was also the case in every other country where Badoo conducted the survey.
In addition, Poles are looking for dates who are creative, while in Germany, Spain and Russia, the second most sought-after quality in a dating partner is good health, and in the UK and Brazil a strong sense of independence was listed.
Summarising the results, Badoo’s marketing and communications director Tristan Pineiro said that, after a couple of tough years, it is important to breathe more life into the dating experience.
The survey was conducted by pollsters OnePoll between December 8 and 22 among 8,000 respondents in eight countries, Poland, Russia, France, Britain, Spain, Brazil, Germany and Ukraine.
Established in 2006, Badoo is a dating website and mobile application available in 51 languages.
