Now in its seventh year, the Animal Liberation March will feature three stages: the march itself, speeches, and an artistic discussion segment. Each year, the event attracts thousands of participants from various professions across the country. This year's edition is held under the slogan, "I am marching for animals," and is open to everyone who cares about animal welfare.
The march will commence at 1:30 PM local time with a gathering at the Copernicus Monument located at 69 Nowy Świat Street. In addition to speeches, a portrait campaign titled "I am an animal. I think, I feel, I want to live" will be held at the same location. "The Cube of Truth" will also be set up nearby, and attendees are invited to the "Sentiocracy Now" exhibition.
Dariusz Gzyra, a philosopher and writer, remarked, "There is no other social justice than interspecies justice. The March signals that, to advance this cause, it is not enough to merely avoid products associated with animal harm. More creativity, boldness, and effort are required. During the event, you can meet many inspiring people who understand this. It’s worth being among them."
While one of the critical tools for social change is minimizing the use of animal products, thus supporting veganism, the March welcomes not only vegans but also anyone willing to consider adopting veganism as a future model of care.
Following the march and speeches, the "I am an animal. I think, I feel, I want to live" campaign will continue. Last year, this campaign generated significant attention among participants and spectators alike.
Joanna Wiśniewska, a translator, commented, "Since animal violence is pervasive and often normalized in society, there are numerous situations where it can be challenged and opposed. Participating in the March is one way to express disagreement with the systemic, widespread, and fully accepted abuse of beings capable of feeling just like humans, yet who are not human. It is an essential act of reclaiming public space for the idea of a radical change in our relationships with them."
