At a briefing outside the Regional Hospital in Kielce, Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Office Marzena Okła-Drewnowicz said the money will strengthen treatment of cardiovascular diseases, which account for about 35% of deaths in Poland.
“Investments in cardiology are extremely needed,” she said, adding the funds will reach specialist centres and county hospitals.
Nearly PLN 30 million will go to the Regional Hospital in Kielce; 20 million each to facilities in Końskie and Starachowice; almost 20 million to Sandomierz; 9.5 million to Pińczów; and about 540,000 to Chmielnik.
Michał Cichocki, director general of the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship Office, called it a “powerful investment boost” and a continuation of earlier support, noting prior editions provided PLN 152 million for long-term care.
Funds will modernize infrastructure, equip cardiology wards and buy diagnostic devices, from CT scanners and angiographs to ECG machines, Holter monitors and echocardiography systems. The health ministry says the upgrades aim to improve treatment of heart attacks and arrhythmias and shorten diagnostic waits.
KO lawmaker Artur Gierada said the recovery-plan money marks a tangible improvement for patients and hospitals, asserting the funds “have returned” to regions and are now delivering concrete results.
The health ministry said 376 hospitals across the country will share the PLN 2.6 billion pool.
