The Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs told the national broadcaster Polish Radio that it is currently verifying the report.

The tragedy, which occurred on New Year’s Day, 1 January 2026, left 47 people dead and more than 100 injured.

Earlier, the Polish Embassy in Bern reported that Prime Minister Donald Tusk expressed his “deepest sympathy to the families and loved ones of the victims of the Crans-Montana fire,” adding that Switzerland and the canton of Valais can count on Poland’s solidarity.

“We are ready, at the request of Swiss authorities, to provide specialist medical care to 14 injured people,” he said.

Local police chief Frederic Gisler said on Friday at a press conference that 119 people had been injured.

Of these, 113 have now been formally identified, while the remaining six are still being processed.

Among those identified, 71 were Swiss, 14 French, 11 Italian, four Serbian, and one each from Bosnia, Belgium, Luxembourg, Poland, and Portugal.

A fire broke out at the La Constellation bar in the Swiss ski resort of Crans-Montana, located in the canton of Valais in southwestern Switzerland, around 1:30 a.m. on New Year’s Eve.

The blaze cut short celebrations and prompted a three-hour rescue operation by emergency services.
