The incident reportedly took place on 3 January 2026. The officer has been charged and detained for three months.
Warsaw police announced via social media that the deputy commander of the unit has been dismissed, and one of the officers under his command is suspected of committing the crime.
On Thursday, Interior and Administration Minister Marcin Kierwiński told the lower house of Parliament that the officer has been suspended from duty and is set to be expelled from the police force.
“Within 12 hours, the officer was placed in detention and suspended from duty. The process to expel him from the Polish police has been initiated, as there is no place in the force for individuals who commit such heinous acts,” Kierwiński said.
The Ministry of Interior and Administration (MSWiA) added that three internal investigations have been launched and that further personnel decisions will follow, emphasizing that there will be no cover-up.
National Prosecutor’s Office spokesman Piotr Antoni Skiba said the victim, a female police officer, is receiving psychological support.
“In light of reports that journalists have attempted direct contact with the officer, the Warsaw District Prosecutor’s Office urges respect for her procedural role. Such actions are inappropriate and risk re-victimizing her,” the prosecutor’s offic estated.
