Asked whether Poland should introduce such a ban, 45.7% answered “definitely yes” and 31.3% said “rather yes,” according to the survey results published on Thursday. Opposition was lower, with 5.4% saying “rather no” and 6.0% “definitely no,” while 11.6% chose “don’t know/hard to say.”
Support was higher among women than men, the poll showed, with 83% of women and 70% of men backing the idea. Opposition stood at 9% among women and 15% among men, and an identical share in both groups selected “don’t know/hard to say,” according to the results.
The poll also indicated broadly similar views across voters of different political parties. The least supportive group were those who voted for the conservative Law and Justice party in the last parliamentary election, with 67% in favor and 15% against.
They were followed by voters of the New Left, with 70% in favor and 9% against, and far-right Confederation voters, with 75% in favor and 20% against.
