The move comes a year after the Polish football player switched to Milan from Genoa, an Italian Serie A outfit for whom he scored 19 goals in 21 games over seven months.

Hertha sporting director Michael Preetz was quoted as saying: “With Krzysztof we’re getting a very talented striker who’s already proven himself at the highest level in Serie A and with the national team with his goal threat and attacking quality.”

No financial details were given, but according to German media outlets, the deal was worth around EUR 23 million, Poland’s PAP news agency reported.

The official website of Germany’s top football league noted that the Poland international, known as Il Pistolero, or The Gunslinger, celebrates his goals by crossing his arms and firing off imaginary bullets like a cowboy.

Hertha are 13th in the German Bundesliga table.

The 24-year-old Pole scored 16 goals in 41 appearances for Milan, following his move from Genoa in January last year.
