The 37-year-old from Cieszyn, southern Poland, became the new UFC men’s light heavyweight king when he trounced Dominick Reyes in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, on Sunday morning.

“Poles, thank you for your support. I felt the power, thank you very much,” Błachowicz said after the bout.

With the triumph, Błachowicz has become the second Polish-born UFC champion in history. Poland’s first-ever UFC champion belt had been won by Joanna Jędrzejczyk in 2015.

Light heavyweight takes in competitors between 84 kg and 93 kg, and is one notch below heavyweight.
