Świątek into 2nd round of French Open, three other Poles crash out

The Pole’s countrywoman Magda Linette crashed out in the first round of the Grand Slam event in Paris after losing 6-1, 2-6, 3-6 to Canada’s Leylah Annie Fernandez.

Meanwhile, Poland’s Kamil Majchrzak was eliminated in the first round of the men’s singles after being beaten by Russia’s Karen Khachanov 6-7, 3-6, 3-6.

The hopes of Polish player Hubert Hurkacz were cut short with a first-round defeat to America’s Tennys Sandgren.
