Pole wins junior European championship in judo

Poland’s Katarzyna Sobierajska has won the European Junior Championship in judo in the 70 kg category.

The 18-year-old won five fights in the championships in Poreč, western Croatia.

After two qualifying victories, she defeated France’s Morgane Fereol in the quarter-finals and Israel’s Shaked Amihai in the semi-finals.

In the final, Sobierajska beat Portugal’s Joana Crisostomo.

Last year, Sobierajska won the Women's Cadet European Judo Open, as well as a medal in the Cadet European Judo Championship.
