The Polish-Canadian duo saw off Croatia’s Mate Pavić and Brazil’s Bruno Soares 6-7, 7-6, 10-2 in the championship match on Sunday to claim their first title together.

The cliffhanger final, in which Hurkacz and Auger-Aliassime saved five championship points to upset the second seeds in an hour and 52 minutes, marked the first ATP doubles title for the 23-year-old Pole.

Hurkacz and Auger-Aliassime on Saturday dispatched Poland’s Łukasz Kubot and Brazil’s Marcelo Melo 6-2, 1-6, 10-5 in the semifinals at the Paris Masters.

Hurkacz in August last year won his first ATP singles title in the Winston-Salem tournament in the US state of North Carolina.

The Pole is world No. 34 in the Association of Tennis Professionals’ (ATP) singles rankings and No. 72 in doubles.
