The Polish world No. 9 lost 2-6, 4-6 to German player Alexander Zverev on Thursday, after earlier succumbing to Russia's Daniil Medvedev and Italy's Jannik Sinner on his debut at the ATP Finals.
Hurkacz told reporters after his match with Zverev that despite his early exit he had lots of positives to take from competing at the event as he looked to return next year, the atptour.com website reported.
“I have gained a lot of experience,” Hurkacz was quoted as saying.
He added: “I definitely want to be back here and compete at a better level because I know I can play better than I played this week. I started well and then just didn’t play well enough and sometimes that happens.”
His performance in Turin added to feelings of disappointment among tennis fans at home after countrywoman Iga Świątek was knocked out of the WTA Finals at the round-robin stage earlier this month.
